Eric L. Abbott is a fourth-year rabbinical student and educator studying at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR). Originally from Warwick, RI, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a B.A. in Judaic Studies. Since arriving in New York, Eric has taught 6th and 7th graders, led services at Hofstra University Hillel, participated as a Rabbis Without Borders Student Fellow, studied community organizing with JOIN for Justice, served as Student Rabbi at Temple Beth Am in Monessen, PA, and provided pastoral care as a chaplain intern at Memorial Sloan Kettering. He currently helps lead the HUC-JIR Soup Kitchen as the Volunteer Coordinator, works as an educational intern at Temple Shaaray Tefila, leads Shabbat services at Jewish Home Lifecare, serves as a Rodfei Tzedek Fellow through HUC-JIR, and is an AIPAC Laffell Israel Fellow. He will earn his M.A. in Religious Education in May 2016. Eric loves rock climbing, the outdoors, music, and using Judaism to strengthen all kinds of relationships.

This summer, Eric is interning at Faith in New York.
