Dvir Cahana (he/him) was born in Sweden and grew up in Canada. He received a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Israel Studies from Concordia University, where he played varsity basketball as a 3-time Academic All-Canadian. He earned his M.A. in Jewish Studies from McGill University, representing McGill in the East Coast Consortium of Graduate Students in Jewish Studies. Later he taught at the Satmar elementary school Yeshivat Toras. He is deeply involved in Jewish living communities, founding Montreal’s Moishe House and sitting on the regional advisory board of the Harlem Moishe House. He benefits from his decade-long tenure as a congregational Torah Reader, alongside completing almost a dozen fellowships and internships at synagogues in Tennessee and Maryland. Dvir received a Certificate in Spiritual Entrepreneurship from Columbia University and the Glean Network, and was recognized by Jewish Week’s 36 under 36 for launching The Amen Institute, where artists and rabbis unite to inspire sermons and art. Dvir graduated from YCT-YM’s Beit Midrash Program in 2020. He will graduate from YCT’s rabbinical school program in 2024 and the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education of the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2023.
