Ariana Siegel is a first year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary. At JTS, Ariana enjoys leading prayer services, including a new experimental minyan she co-founded. Ariana graduated from Tufts University in 2012 with a BA in Peace and Justice Studies and English literature and spent a semester studying Arabic in Alexandria, Egypt. After college Ariana served as a corps member in Avodah: The Jewish Service corps, and worked for The Crown Heights Community Mediation Center, a grassroots anti-gun-violence organization in Brooklyn. Ariana then moved to Israel for the New Israel Fund’s Shatil Social Justice Fellowship. She worked at Mahapach-Taghir, a Jewish-Palestinian partnership organization that empowers marginalized Israeli communities through educational programming and grassroots leadership, and also served as an Encounter facilitator. In preparation for rabbinical school, Ariana spent last year studying at Yeshivat Hadar in New York. In her free time Ariana enjoys reading and writing fiction, learning languages and exploring cities.

This summer, Ariana is interning at the Bronx Defenders.
