Ally Karpel (she/her) is a rabbinical student at the Los Angeles campus of Hebrew Union College, expecting ordination in 2026. Ally grew up in Dallas, TX and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018 with a degree in speech-language pathology. There, she served as president of the University Interfaith Council and co-founded the Texas Hillel Bella Abzug Social Justice Fellowship, teaching community organizing principles and coordinating shifts at a transitional housing facility for immigrant women and children escaping violence. Prior to rabbinical school, Ally worked as a Legislative Assistant at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, leading  federal advocacy efforts around labor, disability, and reproductive rights, economic justice, and gender-based violence. Later, she organized community leaders around reproductive rights as the Campaign Organizer of the WRJ-RAC Reproductive Health & Rights Campaign. During her first year of rabbinical school, Ally was an Elissa Froman Social Change Fellow with the New Israel Fund.
