T’ruah has been named one of North America’s top 50 innovative Jewish organizations in the 13th annual Slingshot Guide, published on June 4.
T’ruah “has created a group of rabbinic leaders who lead both rituals and rallies, and the Jewish community is stronger for it,” the Guide notes, explaining its decision to select us from among hundreds of finalists.
Organizations included in this year’s Guide were evaluated on their innovative approach, the impact they have in their work, the leadership they have in their sector, and their effectiveness at achieving results. T’ruah is proud to be among the 50 organizations honored for meeting those standards.
As the Guide explains, “T’ruah trains rabbinical students and rabbis to understand human rights issues in the United States and Israel and to develop their rabbinic voice and persona, and gives them valuable skills in organizing, media, protesting, and having a public presence, all the while connecting a strong network of colleagues who support one another’s human rights leadership.”
T’ruah clergy, it continues, “are stepping off the bimah and onto the (figurative) battlefields for justice, showing their stance as moral leaders as well as congregational leaders.”
This is the third time that T’ruah has been recognized by Slingshot. In 2016 we were featured in Slingshot’s Women & Girls Supplement, and in 2014-15 we were included in both the Slingshot Guide and the Women & Girls Supplement.
