Words create worlds.

Words expand our sense of what is possible and drive us to act. At T’ruah, we envision a world where human rights are at the center of public discourse, and where the Jewish community leads with a deep understanding of Judaism as an inclusive, justice-seeking tradition driven by love rather than fear.

That’s why today we are launching an ambitious new project:

Emor The Institute for Bold Jewish Thought

Emor — literally “Speak!” — is a new institute where Jewish sources old and new invigorate our commitment to human rights and propel us to action. We’re bringing together people from all corners of the Jewish community — including but also expanding beyond rabbis and cantors — to ask big questions, study Jewish texts, and hold courageous conversations about today’s most important moral and political issues.

Words are transformative, but they can also be dangerous. Emor is an answer to the concerted, organized backlash to racial justice, feminism, LBGTQ rights, and immigration. We are ready to shape the public discourse with bold, creative Jewish ideas that inspire our community to act for the good of everyone.

Our first projects are already in motion, and we can’t wait for you to learn more. Head to EmorInstitute.org now to see what we’ve been up to, and join the conversation.
