Join T’ruah for a daylong excursion to the South Hebron Hills (Masafer Yatta) to learn about the current challenges Palestinian villages living under occupation are facing and since October 7. The trip will be led by T’ruah’s partner – Breaking the Silence, the pioneering group of Israeli veterans who work tirelessly to expose the public to the reality of everyday life in the occupied Palestinian territory.
During our day, we will have the chance to meet with local Palestinian residents. We will learn about the situation there through their eyes and bear witness to their stories and their daily struggles. It is a critical time to stand in solidarity with and show support for Palestinians who are under ongoing threats of home demolitions, land development restrictions, land confiscation, Israeli settler violence, intimidation, and tree uprootings.
Towards the end of the day we will study rabbinic texts to give us Jewish perspective about human rights and what we saw during the trip, and talk about how we can best activate our rabbinic voices to share what we experienced. Whether or not you have already been on a Breaking the Silence trip or visited the region, we are confident that it will be a meaningful day together with new insights on the changing realities on the ground.
