Join T’ruah and partners Jews for Racial & Economic Justice (JFREJ) and the City Council Progressive Caucus on Friday, June 23 at 12:00 p.m. ET at New York City Hall to rally for affordable housing.
As the July 1 deadline for the City budget approaches, now is the time for Mayor Adams to invest in affordable housing that will let more New Yorkers stay in their homes and stay in this city.
New York City is in the middle of a housing crisis – one of three renters in New York City pays a majority of their income in rent; meanwhile, homelessness approaches record levels. Yet, in the midst of this crisis, government has so far failed to deliver help. The State failed to pass a comprehensive housing package this session; the Rent Guidelines Board is expected to pass increases on rent-stabilized apartments in a vote tomorrow; and while the City Council just passed sweeping reforms to move thousands of New Yorkers out of the shelter system and into permanent housing, the Mayor is threatening to block those bills from becoming law.
