To dismantle racism, we need to create personal and communal transformation in addition to supporting systemic change.

This Community of Practice will help us discover the tools necessary to ensure that Jewish communities do not replicate the very dynamics of white supremacy and racism that we’re working to undo; tools to effectively, sustainably, and successfully build a better world.

T’ruah is once again partnering with Kirva to run a Community of Practice focused on antiracism practices. Participants will be equipped with the Jewish spiritual tools of Mussar to confront, subvert, and heal implicit and internalized racism within ourselves and others. We are offering a version of Kirva’s special curriculum, Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out (DRIO) to chaverim who are interested in cultivating these habits to confront racism both inside and outside of Jewish communities. Rabbi Matt Dreffin and Rabbi Kerry Chaplin will be co-facilitating.

We will spend eight synchronous sessions together over eight months. Each session will meet from 12:00-1:30 PM ET. Additionally, participants will be assigned chevruta to meet with in-between the synchronous sessions. The dates are:

In addition to being chaverim, we are asking for a monetary commitment of $144 from newly ordained clergy (within 5 years) or $288 for all other clergy.* If this price is cost-prohibitive for you, please contact us as soon as possible—we never want money to be an obstacle to participation.
