The trip will be led by two of T’ruah’s partners: Breaking the Silence, the pioneering group of Israeli veterans who work tirelessly to expose the public to the reality of everyday life in the occupied Palestinian territory, and One Climate, a grassroots organization that focuses on the disproportionate impact the climate crisis has on the occupied Palestinian territory.
During our trip, we will have the chance to meet with local Palestinian residents. We will learn about the situation there through their eyes and bear witness to their stories and their daily struggles. It is a critical time to stand in solidarity with and show support for Palestinians who are under ongoing threats of home demolitions, land development restrictions, land confiscation, Israeli settler violence, intimidation, and tree uprootings.
Towards the end of the day we will share a meal together, study rabbinic texts to give us Jewish perspective about human rights and what we saw during the trip, and talk about how we can best activate our rabbinic voices to share what we experienced.
Safety: The political realities in the occupied Palestinian territory are complex and often unpredictable. We will be working closely with our partners on the ground to ensure a meaningful experience that prioritizes everyone’s safety.
Accessibility: Some walking on unpaved terrain. May not be wheelchair accessible. Please contact T’ruah’s Israel Program Manager, Neta Hamami Tabib at nhamamitabib@truah.org for more info.
