Join T’ruah and Ir Amim for an on-the-ground visit to Al-Walaje, a village in East Jerusalem threatened with extensive housing demolition. In Al-Walaje, we’ll be guided by residents, and Ir-Amim (City of nations), an organization that focuses on Jerusalem within the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We will bear witness to the reality of the village which, like all of the East Jerusalem area, is living under “a transparent occupation” that creates unique struggles. The organized community of the village welcome everyone who wish to listen to their story and take part in their struggle.
Afterward, we’ll return to Jerusalem for dinner and a chance to read what we’ve just seen through the lens of Torah. You’ll come away from the day with a better understanding of the human rights issues involved and how they relate to the occupation more broadly.
